CUSTOMER NOTICE: CUSTOMS CESSATION OF SMP – IMPACT ON TRANSHIPMENT CARGOS

12/01/2022

Dear Valued Customers,

This is to inform you that PNG Customs have formally ceased the approval of the Single Movement Permit (SMP) for FCL cargos as of January 10th 2022. An official notice is attached. In practice this has been implemented as of January 3rd.

The ceasing of SMP means Swire Shipping can, effective immediately, no longer facilitate the underbond movements of the transhipment cargos on the consignee’s behalf upon arrival in Lae or Port Moresby.

All FCL cargos will remain idle at the terminal until fully customs cleared and NAQIA screened.

It will be the consignee’s responsibility to customs clear their cargo within the free time granted by the terminal (5 free days from vessel discharge complete)

To avoid any storage charges on the wharf, the Swire transhipment desk will require the complete customs cleared documents and NAQIA PTL no later than 14:00hrs on the last day of free storage. Please send the full set of documents to: swirepng.transshipment@swireshipping.com

Storage incurred on behalf of our clients will be recharged by adding the cost to the Swire Shipping Wharfage Invoice.

Storage is charged at the rates shown below:
